I think that just the best man and the groom should wear the tuxes with the tails. I believe that it should seem as though the wedding was a special day for them.

My husband wore tails with a white tie and vest. The best man wore tails with Purple tie and vest. The rest of the groomsmen did not wear tails at all.

Tails are traditionally only worn at very formal black tie events. However, nowadays the sentiment is that you wear what you like.
Again in old etiquette terms the groom and groomsmen would match in attire. However that is no longer necessary.
Hope this helps and that your sister has a beautiful wedding day.

The groom should be a little different. If you want all the guys in tails how about a vest for the groom and cumberbuns for the groomsmen. We did black tails for all the guys and my husband wore an ivory shirt with ivory vest, tie & hankie. The groomsmen wore ivory shirts with huntergreen cumberbun, tie & hankie that were the same color as the bridemaid dresses. (I wore ivory & the girls wore huntergreen dresses.) It looked great. Good luck.

It would be nice to just have the groom wear a tux with tail.

It is totally up to you! If he wants to be different let him wear a white tux with talis and the rest black ones. My husband wishes he would have worn white!!!! That way the couple is very defined and classy looking!.

doesnt matter either way. thats a descision for the bride and groom. My finace is wearing a different tie and vest than his groomsman because he wants to stand out, buts its cool if they are all in the same thing to. Thats whats great bout weddings, they can be changed to fit the people that are getting married.
