I am hoping to plan a vacation to Ireland within the next 2yrs (pregnant, so can't come now, lol) and I really don't know much about the country. I'm looking for the classic scenic Irish countryside, but with enough population to show my kids a little about their heritage. If anybody has any ideas please let me know, I'm really excited about planning this trip.

You should come to Clonakilty in West Cork. It is the birthplace of Michael Collins who was a general in the war of independance from Britain. He was a major role in the Politics in Ireland nowadays. A very scenic town. Beautiful beaches such as Inchadoney Island (not an Island anymore, has joined with mainland.) which has a luxurious spa overlooking the beach. The town has won many all Ireland Tidy town awards and took overall gold in 2000. Only an Hours drive from Cork city, Irelands second biggest city. Clonakilty is a very friendly tourist and family orientated town. It won a " Pride of Place award" which is an award for communities in Ireland. A town you will never forget!!

My advice would be stay close to a major city Cork or Dublin & then you'll have the option to view the countryside but still be in the heart of things.
The best thing to do is when you have ur baby(congrats!) you & ur hubby go for a long weekend alone & check it out for a longer vacation with ur kids!
Email if you have any questions..I'm from Ireland!
