No, many ancient cultures worshiped the Sun as God. I believe this is where God being light originated from.

According to the Bible, Abrahamic God created light and dark, good and evil.
It could be a metaphor.
Or it could be a different sort of light. For example, God could be a supernatural-spiritual light, for the spirit, and creating natural-physical light for everything else.
But I'm not a Christian, so I could be wrong.

If you're reffering to the first chapter of John where it states that Jesus was the Word, and then calls him the light of all men, it's not being literal. It's not saying that Jesus was actually a ray of light.
It's saying that Christ illuminates the path for men. It's a play off of the footlamps that people used to have to use to get around.
They would take a long stick with a curved end, and attach an oil lamp to the bottem. This way, when they walked around in the dark, they could see where they were walking.
It's saying that before Christ came, we were stumbling around in the dark, and that we couldn't tell where we were going, because our paths were dark. Once Christ came, he illuminated the way for us.
Does that make sence?

So.....god is trapped in a solar panel. lol
Light is just a form of energy (electromagnetic radiation). Energy in the form of light can come from matter, and be transformed into other typed of energy.
Being an atheist I would like to offer up the the notion that light may actually be photons.

well , since we were all created out of the death of a star...(nebula) which was utterly light........I guess you can say God is light, was light, created light - and so are we. You see? science has an answer for everything. get with the program.

What do you mean, is he made of light?
No. God's properties are beyond our coprehension. Anything we say about God is more wrong than right, because our minds can't even comprehend his greatness and power.

light can be converted to other forms of energy... meaning that if he was light he'd also be all forms of energy and matter
