One of the best ways to find some wines you like is to go to wineries that have wine tasting rooms. Many do not even charge for you to sample their wines. Most who do charge will apply the tasting fee to the cost of any wines you buy.

The person in the tasting room is usually knowledgeable about the wines and can guide you to wines you might like. And if you don't like them, at least you haven't invested money in buying the bottle. This is a fun way to discover some wines you like.

There are a number of ways to try out wine:

1 - good wine shops often have tastings; find out when those are and go then; often the wine being tasted is on sale as well.
2 - get together with a few friends; everyone can bring a wine they like; do a wine tasting with what folks brought
3 - a good wine shop or store will have employees who are pretty familiar with what they are selling; tell them what you like (ie - Penfolds cab shiraz) and your price range (ie - under $10) and they will give you some recommendations.
4 - take a wine appreciation class; this could be a local junior college or at a wine store
5 - ask a friend for a recommendation - similar to #2

Whatever you do...enjoy it in moderation....

If you are in a restaurant and you would like some wine ask the server if you can try it before you decide lots of good places will give you a shot glass of the wine to try.
When at the wine store they often have tastings this is a good way to learn something about wines you have not heard of before.
Buy a bottle you would like to try when you have friends over and if you don't like it I am sure some one will !

Tasting tastings tastings. Many wine shops give weekly or monthly tastings. Start attending them. Keep a journal of what you like and what you don't like. Ask the person giving the tastings what the main flavour or attributes of the wine are and make note of them. You may find yourself liking everything with 'black cherry' notes, but hating everything with 'leathery' notes. When I journal, I typically write

Winery (Beringer)
Wine Type (Cab Sauv)
Vineyard/name of wine (Napa Estate Reserve)
Vintage (2003)
Cost ($49.99)
Colour (Rich plum)
Smell (Strong Alcohol with hints of cherry and tobacco)
Taste (Strong initial taste of vanilla and tobacco. Very tannic. Middle drops out slightly with a eucalyptus taste. Finish is weak)
Rate the wine on a scale of 1-10 (5)
Notes (Ordered with birthday meal at Main Street Cafe. Decanted for 30 minutes to reduce tannins - did not help. Would not buy again.)

Keep an open mind. Just because you disliked one Cabernet Sauvignon doesn't mean that you will dislike all of them.

Have fun! Salut!

The first thing you should do is talk to someone in a wine bar or a liquor store that specializes in wine. They can explain the difference in wine, such as dry or sweet and the different types of grapes used.

Put the wine in a oval glas then make a circular movement with your finger in the wine.
Bring the finger with wine on to your neck and rub it.
If your ears get warm you'l like it if you feel nothing then stop anoying us. You'l never like wine!

So please send us your leftovers.

first of all take a small zip just to clear you're mouth and after just try to taste it and just let it "flow" all over you're tongue and mouth!after you'll feel if it's too strong for you,or to dry or maybe you'll like it in the end!
