Nice fluffy bath towels (who DOESN'T need these!), kitchen tools, photo albums (can personalize the cover if you wish), bottle of wine, a meal for two gift certificate to a local restaurant for a night out ($50 ish), wedding chimes, and any other thing you can think of. A gift is exactly that. Spend what you can afford, but don't be cheap unless you really have to be. If you are on a budget, the couple will understand. Get them something practical.
Another idea is to get them personalized wine glasses. Or a small food basket (i.e. jams, fruit, crackers, etc.).

If the wedding is in about 2 months, i would suggest you to give them a stock certificate on their name.
It is cheap, and they will keep it forever there is no chance of regifting after this one.
It takes about 6-8 weeks for the certificate to arrive, and if the wedding is within that time, they will send out an announcement with a copy of the certificate.
This is an original idea, and i know for a fact they are going to love it!
There are even $1 stocks you can buy, and the site is 100% legitimate.

Gift cards from Wal-Mart, Target, JC Penney, Sears, and many other fine retailers are examples of great inexpensive wedding gift ideas. If you could not decide on something, give those so the couple could pick out something for themselves. Do you think that is a great idea?

I think great gifts for Weddings are gift certificates at a nice local restaurant, or gift certificates for the movie theater. That way the couple get to go out and have fun ( lots of couples take Wedding cash and put it toward bills and don't get a chance to go out and do something fun and special ).

I just went to a wedding shower and someone gave the bride to be a recipe box. Most of the recipe cards were blank and she passed them around for everyone to write down a favorite recipe. I thought that was a really good idea.

Are you asking for a gift to give a wedding couple, or the "party favor" gift you give to all attendees? If it is the latter, I would say a candle and then jazz it up with something personal.

If they have a registry they probably have simple things like blenders, coffee pots simple around the home things they will need for there new apartment or home. My cousin got married a few years ago and we where on a budget while getting there gift so we just got a new small things like a napkin holder and papertowel holder. Just random things on her registry.
