you want to join the military because you saw a guy shooting rocket launchers in a video game?
you think war or military is a big video game and a joke?

WOW! When they said the game "America's Army" was made to recruit people for the Iraq War, i guess they were not kidding!

Mahal-- you are so ignorant when it comes to the military I don't know how you became a "top contributor"... I can only assume that the rest of your posts are this uninformed... "Rockets are a thing of the past. We use guided missiles now that can almost find their own targets." Ridiculous, I don't even know where you came up with this. I'm sure we stopped using grenades too right? *sigh* (and no we haven't before someone asks).

Yes, they do have a job for that in the Army (perhaps the Marines and Navy has one as well, but as far as I know, there is none in the AF) and as was said it would be Artillery. Again, like was already explained, you get paid based on your rank and time in service. I don't believe that this is considered a "specialized field" so you wouldn't recieve any additional pay. If you came in as an E-1 (lowest rank), you would make about $1,200 a month... might not sound like much but you don't have to pay for food or lodging (or they will give you additional pay for those items if they allow you live off-base or are married). Your first pay raise is after 4 months and promotions from the lower ranks come pretty quickly. :)

pay is determined by rank and time in service. If you have a specialized job then some of them receive slightly higher pay. But its not just shooting rocket launchers, sorry there commando! lol Different jobs in the military handle different machinary and weapons. You'd have to talk to the recruiter in which ever branch you wanted to join.

I'm sure there is a career for you in the US Army!
However...and I have to ask this...what about 'after' the war is over?
Do you have other career amibitions!
I mean, rocket-shooting is necessary...for right now...BUT, after the war is over, what's a rocket-shooter to do?

Rockets are a thing of the past. We use guided missiles now that can almost find their own targets.

In the Navy, you'll want to be a fire controlmen. They're the ones who get to load and fire the harpoons, sm-2's, sm-3s and tomahawks.

In the Air Force, almost everything is a wing-mount weapon, so you'd have to be a pilot.

Yup, its called 13 M "Multiple launch rocket system crewmember". Ask your recruiter about it.

It's called Artillery. You'd have to be assigned to this.

It's great to want to serve, but I hope your purposes are loftier than just wanting to light the fuse or pull the trigger. Joining just because you like to blow up stuff... that's part of the job but it's not noble.
