Yes they are on the up and up, why would a site that makes millions of dollars by just playing fair, risk it all. Trust me they would be shut down in 2 seconds if they were cheating players, they make millions and millions of dollars by playing fair there is no up side to cheating people. It may seem like on line poker you take more bad beats but you play more hands an hour on-line so it may feel like your taking more beats then you usually do, plus players do play a little bit loser on-line then in a live game.

The people running the site (let's keep this focused on the large sites) are legit. Really, they would have to have rocks for brains to run crooked games. The money that comes off the rake in poker plus the law of large numbers for all the games where you play against the house guarantees a big payout for them. Remember, *every* game in a casino where you play against the house has the odds in their favor. It is simply academic that they will make their money.
Any issue of crookedness is entirely on the players' side of the coin.

they are straight. it is difficult to deposit into them now from the US with the recent regulations though on US banks. the players play against each other and the poker sites take a given "rake" from every pot so it doesnt matter WHO wins they make the same percentage from every pot. there is definitely money to be made and poker is not gambling online.

All of the major ones are straight. They have a great thing going on with literally tens of thousands of people playing 24/7. So long as they make a small rake here, and a small rake there, some tournament fees here and there, they will make millions. They don't need to scam people to do that. All they want is for people to play, they don't care who wins or loses.
To risk the integrity of their entire site to try and scam people would hardly be worth it. I've not seen any credible evidence that this is going on.

Cheating can be done in on line poker. Two people sitting at the same table can contact each other by phone,I'll leave it to your imagination to figure out what can happen.

If you are talking about the free ones, why worry? If not, don't be foolish, your suspicions should be enough to alert you if they are cheating.
