Obviously not drinking would do it, but I'm looking for preventative things to do...usually before I drink I have a good meal and then some bread (to absorb the alcohol) but I was wondering if anyone has a better way that works.

pace yourself to have only 1 drink per hour, because that is the rate that your body metabolizes alcohol

It's really all about how you drink, if your drinking for long periods of time, drink water as well, that usually helps me. Or drink slowly not too fast, enjoy your drinking without getting completly plastered. I know it might not work for some, but I purchase those chasers at a CVS or Walgreens, that helps usually too. I'm sure as you know, it depends alot on what you drink too-- some people can drink dark liquors and not get too drunk, others drink the light liquors and do better. I personally can drink 5 mixers with vodka then jack daniels and coke. Find what works best for you, try different alcohols, make sure you dont have an empty stomach and try those chasers they help!

1. Eat a full before drinking.
2. Drink water to hydrate yourself while you drink
3. Pace yourself and don't drink too much
4. Stick to your liquor, and try not to drink lots of different types of liquors at once. If you do that would be a recipe for disaster.
5. When you get home from drinking drink glass of water before going to bed and eat something (bread, fruit, crackers--just something to absorb the alcohol).
6. Take a TUMS -- get your calcium while it absorbs all of the acid in your tummy (I usually do this the morning after drinking)
7. Have a nice meal the morning after drinking. I like regular brunch food like eggs, but sometimes having a nice big bowl of Vietnamese Pho or some Ramen just hits the spot.
8. I usually have better luck if I'm dancing or active while I'm drinking because I seem to be burning it off.
9. Because your body metabolizes the alcohol into sugar, if you digest more of it, you'll have a sugar crash in addition to a potential hangover. I usually stay away from sugar the day after drinking.

Disclaimer: Please don't drink and drive, please be responsible and this is just what has worked for me. It might be different from you.

Drink in moderation. Don't get to a party and pound 10 beers right away. Also while drinking eat foods that have carbs (breads, pizza etc). That will help. Other than that - make sure eat a good meal before you start drinking!

I was always told to eat lots of protein,,like a steak before drinking. This will absorb the alcohol. But a sure fire way, as you no, limit your alcohol intake.

drink lots of water before you go out, that way you will get filled up rather than getting drunk plus, the water in system will help to dilute the content's,also take a few aspirin before you go out! and just drink slow!
P.S remember one 3oz glass of anything an hour will be more than enough to test you legally intoxicated,
be safe and have fun!
