After WWI..the German economy and political system was in chaos. Hitler came along at a time when, like most countries that are down and out, people tend to reach for whatever sounds like the best plan to them. This is simplifying the situation but is the only way i can explain. The facist party took hold and Hitler..although he wasn't much, had the ability to sway and was a new and different face to the German people.

Most leaders of nations were at fault. For example Chamberlain can also hold some blame for not standing up to Hitler early on. If Britian and France had shown some guts early on the war might not have happened.

The immediate Causes of World War II are generally held to be the German invasion of Poland, and the Japanese attacks on China, the United States, and the British and Dutch colonies. In each of these cases, the attacks were the result of a decision made by authoritarian ruling elites in Germany and Japan. World War II started after these aggressive actions were met with an official declaration of war, armed resistance or both.

How about some blame on the U.S. in the person of FDR. America was in the midst of a terrible depression, and no way was there for it to end; unless, America could go to war.

One did come--WWII. The depression ended. Do you think for one minute that the politicians cared that millions died?

You be the judge.
