Here in the CO mountains Broad-tailed Hummers are generally the first to appear. I start hearing them towards the end of March, so you probably have them in Arkansas right now.
Put out the feeder, bring it in at night if you still have frost.

1 part sugar to 4 parts water, DO NOT add food coloring.
Change the sugar water often, it gets moldy and buggy.

NO HONEY, it's bad for the birds' liver.
"Hawaiian Punch", what a jerk.
The point is to feed healthy not chemically. Though the basic ingredients in Punch are only 5% fruit juice, the rest water and sugar ... it's the DYE in the juice that is bad for the birds. Besides just because a human can drink the crap doesn't mean it's entirely safe for any other animal.

Humming birds are migratory. Putting a feeder out after spring is getting into full swing. Use the feeder with humming bird mix you can get at your local store that doesn't have preservatives.

Taking down your feeder is necessary for their migration and should be brought down during mid-fall or they will not migrate and then die from the cold exposure.

Enjoy them like the seasons, only when they should be in your area.

getting waiting the Syrup answer The hummingbird answer is common to make. It includes 1 million area white sugar and four aspects water. Then position in feeder. Any unused component could properly be refrigerated and used later. If that is your first hummingbird feeder and also you're literally not particular what number hummingbirds will use the feeder, do not fill it up each and each of how. in reality upload a small volume of answer. this may help shrink wasted answer and cleansing. once the hummingbirds have began to apply the feeder commonly, upload more suitable answer to the feeder. you are able to get some at walmart too. carry close it from a window or purchase a hook and position it there. you are able to also placed bledding hearts round it so as that they feed off them also. and don't be feeding the hummers KOOLAID sure they are attrracted to red yet that sugar will kill them.

Hummingbirds are just now beginning to show up in Texas. I would say to put out your feeder in the next couple of weeks. Good luck!

Hi Arkansas!

I put in Hawaiian punch so I dont have to mix anything.

They gobble it down.

There is a hummingbird mix that you buy in pet section, or some people just add some sugar to water to simulate nectar.

They also love certain flowers you can plant. Contact the master gardeners at your local Cooperative Extention of the university. They help for free.
