no.

if you worship nothing, then nothing is being worshiped, nothing is being proactively done on your part.

if you worship a mythical character, like jesus or satan, then you are actually focused on something. something silly, but something, nonetheless.

Well I'm a Christian but I have respect for people and their beliefs and non beliefs etc... I have no problem with atheist because I respect it that if you don't worship anything it's cool it's a free country no one said you have to its just a life style, and Christians who think atheist worship satan even though they don't is just plain blasphemy.

from the other peoples answers it seems that they also think that if yuo are atheist that you are worshiping yourself. that is not even close to the truth. i just do not believe in a "higher power" as christians do. i have always asked christians this question and they never have a good answer. "if god was real and he was all knowing why did he create the being that would eventually turn out to be satan. so if anyone is to blame for satan worship it would be god since without him satan would not exist.

I have never had the preconceived notion that atheists worship Satan. I've always known that they don't believe in anything. With that said, though, I still believe that worshipping nothing is just as bad as worshipping Satan.

Who worships nothing is nearer to worshipping God than who worships Satan.

There are many christians who believe that if you are not worshipping God, you are worshipping Satan, whether you acknowledge that or not.
They believe you have been deceived by "The enemy of God" and that you do his bidding even if you don't believe in him.

While I could go into the origins of satan and how he was never viewed by the jewish people as a fallen angel, and how they see him as being in god's employ, etc.. and how the greeks invaded that area in between the testaments and imposed their good versus evil doctrines upon the jews, yadda yadda.. it isn't going to convince these fundies that satan isn't the bad guy.

It's also not going to convince them that we're not worshipping something we don't believe in.

okay, when a lot of people say that, they mean you're doing exactly what Satan wants you to do: not worship God. So if you're living his way, then you're committing a form of worship. Worship is just adoration, reverence, or high prioritizing of (insert noun here).

and if you would like to be technical, there's also self worship, material worship, idol worship, ideology worship, demon worship, Satanism, and atheism: all are categorized under the same thing: idolatry, which isn't worshipping God.

If it is nothing that means it has no form. Both God and Satan has no forms. Anything with a form can not be divine.

So if you are worshiping nothing you may be worshiping both God and Satan or may be any one of them.

It all depends on what you feel about it.

Yes in the sense you are either for God or against Him.
No in the sense it's not actually worshiping him physically
Yes in the rejection of God as personal savior is giving him (Satan) the glory and in that sense the worship.

because they have been brain washed into assuming that we worship satan but you cant worship somthing you dont beleive in can you, but i guess you can never change the way people think if they dont keep an open mind about things can you.
