Theoretically, you get zero voltage and infinitive current. The result, using I*R, you get infinitive watts, and a small fireball as the wire explodes from the excessive current through it.

The wire will cause a short across the battery, if small enough it will burn into. If a very large wire is used it will heat up along with the battery and the battery will be drained of it power very quickly If it is a car battery it can explode.

If the battery is large enough, say a car battery, the wire will fuse almost instantly.

IT will raise in temperature and i think a magnetic field will surround it.I think its called amperes law.
