Use a wire mesh strainer. Cut ripe tomatoes in half, then push each half by hand against the strainer basket. The pulp will pass through but the seeds will stay in the strainer basket. Colanders will also work if the holes are not so large that the seeds pass completely through them.
You can also use two or three layers of cheesecloth. Wrap several tomatoes in the folded cheesecloth and just keep squeezing the bundle. The pulp will pass through the cheesecloth but the seeds will stay inside.
With any method, you'll have to remove the seeds as often as necessary to allow pulp to continue to pass through.

When you grow your own tomatoes they have no flavor if they have few seeds---I would ignore this directive unless you are making juice, if that's the case then boil water, poke your tomatoes one time and drop in the water for a minute or more, drain and run cold water on them, then smoosh 'em up and strain with a plain old metal kitchen strainer, add a bit of salt and a dash of sugar and enjoy.

Well first discard the "e". Take the rest of it, quarter it, shake out the seeds & pulp - they may need a bit of help with a dessert knife.
