I have bad credit, but I have the money to pay for a good car, were can I go to get a good car without all the hassle. I heard that you can go to a car auction, and get really good cars there. Is that true?

Car auctions can be good and can be bad. if its a public auction a lot of the time people over bid and end up paying more than at a car lot or from private owner. lots of the cars that end up at auction couldn't be sold else where for 1 reason or another. at auctions you don't really get time to do a good inspection so you could end up buying a car at a good price only to find out it needs lots of repairs.
if you take your time and watch you can get some very good deals at auctions, just remember the down side and try to avoid them.

A lot of the advertised car auctions are only open to dealers, or are scams under the guise of repo sell offs (you have to spend $50 to get info where the auction is, and then its only open to dealers.) Even still, auctions are as-is, so unless you're proficient in detecting if a stationary car has a bad tranny, busted head gasket, thrown rod, etc. I would steer clear of them. If you have the money for a good used car, I would go to a dealership and look at their certified pre-owned vehicles. These usually come with some type of warranty coverage.

Also, never ever EVER buy a used police car unless you budget for a replacement engine. It may have low mileage and look pristine, but remember that the engine will have hundreds if not thousands of hours on it from sitting in parking lots, medians, etc.

Don't go to public auctions because it's open to all morons and clueless people who buy retail KBB there and over bid.

Go to a small used car place and offer like $200 to the owner if he'll take you to a Dealer-Only auction where cars go for like 30-50% of wholesale.

Or search autotrader.com, many many great deals there.
