1. Sensible diet. Low in fats, carbs, or calories, but you're not starving at the end of the day (unless you normally eat a lot).

2. Sensible exercise. (Depends on who you ask, methinks, but I'd say about half an hour to 45 minutes. Somewhere in there.)

3. Consistency. If you're going to be on a fitness program, stick to it or forget it. It won't work if you don't stay on it.

I can't think of anything else.
