I am not looking to be a show groomer... just a basic shampoo, wash, cut type of groomer... i live in Maine too if that helps. Any ideas or opinions are appreciated! :o)

I have made as much as $60k per year in the past - but I've cut down to part time and moved to a less wealthy area...I now make about $100/day on average.

Depends how much they charge and how long they work. Which brings me to groomers and my opinion on them I love my groomer but it took me years to find a decent one in my area. I like her because she doesn't do it for a living , she does it because she loves doing it, and she is done by noon.
She only does two dogs at a time. They are never sitting in a cage or bathroom or closet waiting their turn. To me she is worth her weight in gold.

Where I lived I talk to so many groomers and went to visit them at their place. I had some that refuse to let me in, I seen some where pets were put in bathroom, closets, what ever waiting for their turn. I have seen groomers be in a bad mood and take it out on the dog. I seen some that were drug so the groomer could work on the dog. People talk about back yard breeders I could give you thousand of names on back yard groomers. I am not a groomer, but if I was I sure wouldn't be doing what all I have seen.

If you are going into groomer don't do it out of money..but the love of the dog. Don't be having so many at once that you feel the need for them to be put in closets bathrooms or what ever. No one should wait five hours or more to pick up their dog.

That is entirely up to the individual groomer.
I was paying a 40% comission. Well 40% of a million is $400,000, but 40% of zero is $0.00. So it all depends on how many hours does a person want to put in, and how quickly can they do the work.
