often the delivery charge that is added to your bill includes a tip. then again, i live in a college town where if kids weren't required to tip they wouldn't, so maybe it's not the same everywhere.
If the delivery charge is an extra $5, I wouldn't bother with a tip, you already paid it...if the delivery charge is less than that (or there isn't one at all) $2 - $3 should be plenty...maybe consider giving more if there's a snow or rain storm that they have to go out in vs. a nice sunny summer evening?
The person who said 15% is actually incorrect on this, in my opinion, because you typically give 10-20% (15 being the average) of the total cost of your meal to a waitress, when she's the one who's taking & delivering your order, getting your drinks & refills, asking if your meal is allright, seeing if you want more of anything, and possibly cleaning up after you leave if there aren't busboys...that waitress earns her 20% & then some...the delivery boy does just that, he delivers. He didn't take your order on the phone, he isn't getting your drinks from your fridge for you, and he isn't around to take your order back to the kitchen if it's messed up. He just picks up the little boxes, hops in his car, drives to your house and drops it off...doesn't sound like half the work a waitress does, so I think 10-20% would be a bit much...
just my humble opinion of course!

$2 , just barely covers the gas spent, I would give him $3 to $5, for the delivery, if you order from him regularly, make it $5, you will get better service, when he learns you always tip well, think of it this way, delivery takes as much time as it does to serve you in a restuarant, and it may take only 10 min. to your house, but it is also 10 min. back to the chinese place for him, so it really takes him 20 min. for your delivery, 2 dollars is hardly worth his effort, for 20 min. of work.

At first I thought they were getting paid for being Chinese but now I see it is for a delivery. That's not much but it depends on where you live. Mine is close but with the price of gas, I give $3.00. It should be 15% like every thing else.
