Many answers, require, the long explaination, I would rather email the long explaination, than take up so much space in the answers section.
So why doesn't everyone activate their email?

For those of you who have been bombarde by people trying to pick a fight, I think all you have to do is mark their emails as spam, and they can not email you any longer, just trying to be helpful and informative, I have been attacked by some trying over and over to prove something, yet never being willing to consider another viewpoint, so I just mark 'em as sapm and they are gone.

frankly? good point! fortunately the email only allows 1500 characters(includes a space as a character), but it has been fulfilling occasionally to have an exchange of ideas outside of the realm of the sometimes rampant idiocy here in the open forum!

kking? you can select a nickname so that you can maintain your anonymity!
good point though, it is not a healthy idea, to let the people here find out any information that is too personall, thanks for your point!

I think that all of you had excellent inpput, espexially the points about people that log on to do a "run by fruiting"(Mrs.Doubtfire).
I think it is quite comical, that there are people here that can through out attacks upon others, but can not face the repercussions of their assaults.
Thanks everyone, you have made it difficult to pick the best answer!

I think mine is activated, and I don't mind people emailing me, even though, some of the people here seem to be bent on being mean, I do apprciate the fuller versions of answers, that are real helpful to explain some of the things from the Bible!

Because of the sheer amount hate-mail and harassments. Yes, I do agree with you about e-mailing people it can and has lead to some interesting conversations. I loved it. However, unless you've have a stalker on here that sends you over 20 nasty messages a day, you might not understand. You report them for harassment and Yahoo doesn't seem to do anything. There is no way just to block one person, I tried that. It you mark it as spam, all messages "received from another user" at yahoo go into the junk folder. If it showed in the subject line which user on yahoo it was from, it would also be helpful as I could merely delete them without reading them. But unfortunately there's no way to know who it is from until you open the message.

My e-mail address is something that is for the use of my whole family. This (Yahoo Q/A) is my own private hobby. Besides, e-mail comes into my home and can be an intrusion, like phone calls or TV or junk mail. Some of the people on here are frankly not wrapped too tight, and I would not want their warped responses coming into my home on the same computer my kids use. If they want to insult me on Q/A, that's fine.

Some don't have an e-mail because they don't want to get unsolicited e-mail
Some don't because they just haven't gotten around to it.
Some don't because they like to do drive-by's, ask really insulting or stupid questions and answers and not have to deal with fall out, that way they can sit and snicker at how cool and clever they think they are like the children they are.

I think privacy purposes mostly. I've been bombarded a couple of times with people who've wanted to pick a fight, and I can see why some people opt out of that option.

I don't activate mine because it has my full name in it. I also really don't want to allow everyone to fill my inbox with their explanations. Sometimes, I'd like a little more info, but once they give me an initial answer, I can usually go and find more info on the subject myself.

I have my email working, but if you send me a longggggg email, I will not read it.

Try to get to the point and leave out the nonsense. You will get more people reading you.

Mine is active and always has been. A lot of the people here are arrogant, smart mouths and want to be invisible.

I think they don't realize having e-mail through yahoo it doesn't give out your actual address it just sends it to you and you only have the screen name of the person who sent it. no addresses showing.
