My understanding is that, basically, when the sun heats your surroundings to 115 degrees, having an extra hour of sunlight during waking hours isn't advantageous. As such, they stay on Standard Time so that it's still 7:00 - 8:00 when it starts getting dark and (relatively) cooler.

I just moved from Arizona to Wisconsin. The time there right now is 12:30PM. I don't know why we never did Daylight Savings Time. It's hard to get used to. There is and Indian Reservation located near The Four Corners that does Daylight Savings Time, but they are the only part of Arizona that does.

right now because daylight savings time does not come into effect until 2 am tomorrow March 11th it would be (at the time of this post) 12:18pm (March 10th), as it would be in ALL states/provinces in the MTD time zone. After daylight savings time goes into effect if it is say 3pm in the MTD with Daylight Savings, it would be 2pm in Arizona (remember everyone else is moving ahead an hour.)

As to why, one of the clients i work with in Arizona told me that they have enough light during the day that their government does not see a need to participate. Same goes for the Prov. of SK in Canada. they do not participate either.

sunlight hours saving time is a state (and in some states a county decision). Arizona and Hawaii and some different counties opted now to not use it. As an previous Indian once stated" in reality the authorities could cut again a foot off the genuine of a blanket and stitch it on the bottom and have self belief the blanket became longer."
