A dad has all the authority in the world to hit his daughter, hitting or punishing your sibling is not bad, there is nothing u can do much really, you can;t go back and hit her dad or he will not let his daughter date with you... The best thing is to be with your gf and talk with her and how to solve the problem, this will bring you both together more closely and eventually build up a better relationship...

It'll be interesting to know your age, and hers. If it happens in your presence, the right thing to do will be to intervene, especially if you're adults (at least I hope you are). not necessarily hit him back, but at the very least "step up", pull her away and reprimand him, confront him, call the police etc. etc. It's another thing if all you have is her word for it. Not that she may be dishonest, but...fog of war. If that's the case, find out what really happened and if its true, then act as necessary. Very important too, is to make sure she is on board with what you do always, don't play the loose cannon.

Did she tell you why he hit her? And ask her if it is a normal thing around the house. Maybe the father may think that it is out of your place to be involved in family affairs. So be careful. But maybe talk to the police if it is anormal thing. He could be charged with abuse. And you never know things may be a little more serious. And then sometimes it may not be. So be careful.

You should call an assault hot line in the front of the yellow pages and call them. Tell them whats going on and what is it you can do to help support her. If you witness an incident call the police right away. He needs to be charged with assault. Call and talk on a womens assault hot line or better get her to call!!! Take care Heather

something like this happened with my ex when i was a teen. first of all comfort her. next, when i went over to her house, if the dad would be yelling at her, i'd make sure to stand in front of her just in case things got worse. thankfully i never had to knock her old man down.

you should definitely find help immediately!!! that is called abuse and he can get alot of jail time. it my be hard for ya girl to actually turn him in since it is her father but i think thats the right thing to do because it can easily led to death. Good luck!

try to get her to go to somebody who can help, if she refuses then let her know that your there for her, and then tell somebody who can help. even if she decides to split with you later, youve done the right thing i promise and youve done the best thing for the one you love
hope things go ok
