You could call it Love Eternally, or Eternity.

Actually, although it would be a cute idea, it's actually a rip-off. No company has the legal right to name stars - only the International Astronomical Union, and they never name them after people. There are lots of companies out there, and their goal is to sell you a piece of paper that looks official and then sell you the 'atlas' so you can see all the other stars people have named. Or in some cases, just the piece of paper.

You won't really have a star named after you, many of them don't even give you the position of a real star (I've looked some of them up - they don't exist), the've all sold the brightest ones already so you can't see it anyway, and you'll be out $50 - at least.

Plus, if your husband knows anything about astronomy (if he's an amateur astronomer, for example), he already knows this. I'm an astronomer, and I'd be really embarressed if my relatives fell for that.

I learned in astronomy class that stars are named by scientist as they are found. People that offer to do this for you for a fee are only stealing your money. It is such a romantic and wonderful idea that you could do such a thing, but i think you should know that this is not real, even though they make it out to be. The only suggestion i have is to create a book for him. A scrap book full of your letters and movie tickets..... pictures .. etc... Just an idea.

While I understand people are saying it is a "rip off," it is still really a wonderful gesture. I had a star named for my fiance last xmas and he loved it. I think it would be nice if you just named the star both of your married names "Mr and Mrs..."and your wedding date. I did it through International star registry. Sure, the astronomers use the numerical system for star names but it would be nice to get a telescope and look at in several years on your anniversary.

Oooh that sounds like a great idea! How about if you list all of the potential names/terms that you consider "possibilities" and try looking them up in Egyptian or Gaelic or something? Or, name a significant place (where you met, where you get married, etc.)? Or a phrase/word significant to you both?

Forgive my answer, however, I would wait on that. It is a truly great idea and sentiment! I would wait until your first anniversary to do it. By then you'll have observed him up close and have a better idea for a name. You'll also have a better idea of your true relationship. At that point it could be "his pet name for you-Life's Star". Congrats and good luck.

I agree with a few of the other Yahoo! users - it's a rip-off. I wanted to do it for my boyfriend until I did some research and found out that they don't really the name the star for you, just give you a piece of paper.

Rather than spending that money on a piece of paper, why not use it to buy something personalized, maybe something from http://www.personalcreations.com/home.asp.

That's such a good idea... maybe you can use his name and a couple words that would bring up a certain memory.... or you could even attach your wedding date, right? Use something from your life together... maybe if you have a song together and it really means something.. or if you have a certain memory about when you first met... something sweet like that would be awesome..

Make a name that is an anagram of the both of your names or initials, love, and another word that means forever.(always? eternally?) it should be something that is an appropriate name for your 1st child whether male or female.

Cool idea, but how the heck do you that? Doesn't the person who discovered it name it? Am I missing something here?
