Contact a lawyer first off. Then ask yourself if its better for your child if he isn't in his/her life at all. If he hasn't had much to do with you both, then try striking a deal( with help from lawyer) he writes off parental rights, and you drop the child support suit.
If he will not agree, or if you do not want to do this, then go after him, baby. He's lying about getting away with it. JUDGES HATE DEADBEAT DADS. He may say that because he doesn't see much of the child he shouldn't have to pay. Judges don't easily fall for this. Keep journal of attempts on your part to contact and set up visits and you should be fine.

West Virginia collects child support through the Department of Human Resources. Go to your local county office and ask for a child support worker. There are workers and even lawyers there who will help you collect your child support. You will probably have to let them collect the support from him and then they give you a debit card with the money on it. Just because he lives in another state doesn't mean anything. He owes the support and they will help you get it.

You need a lawyer. Your ex has one (or so he says, he could be lying) but it is absolutely necessary for you to get legal advice from a lawyer. And if you plan to go after child support, you definitely have to have legal expertise.

Yes. If he doesn't pay child support, the child does not get the medical card. The child support goes back to the state for them to recover the cost of the medical insurance not provided by either of the parents. The mother probably won't see a dime of the child support.

I live in WV call your DHHR office in hgtn it's 304-528-5800. and there's an option for child support, they will represent you and go after him for child support, yes he will most likely have to pay that back. Also an added bonus, they can garnish his wages, and take his tax return!!!! oh what fun, go after that dead beat and make him pay up.

every state is different (slightly) with the guidelines, but since its all federal laws (and the states have to apply them), then i would advise learning your states laws/guidelines..
LEARN THEM ALL; its your best armor.
todays child support goes by both parents incomes (unless the child is very young, then they add in daycare expenses if the mother works).
living in another state wont guard him from his responsibilites... today, the computers are linked and those cases are 'interstate cases'.
