oatmeal is just porridge oats ground finely, so same thing just different texture

It's the production techniques that are different. To make rolled porridge oats, whole oats are cleaned and hulled (at this point they are called groats), then heated to dry them. The whole grains can then be steamed and crushed between rollers to produce 'jumbo' rolled oats (sometimes called oat flakes), or cut into smaller pieces before rolling more thinly to make porridge oats. Oatmeal, on the other hand, is milled rather than rolled. Ironically, in Scotland they traditionally make porridge not with porridge oats, but oatmeal!

Both oats, but oatmeal is milled, like flour and used more in cooking scones, biscuits, bread etc. or for coating.
Porridge oats is rolled and is usually used for breakfast cooked like porridge, or as an ingredient in muesli.

Yeah- it's just oats, except oatmeal is ground into a fine, less course meal.

Yes, all oats are rolled and cut. Porriage is the thicker type of oatmeal but its the same ingredient.

There are two kinds of oats generally used for cereal and they are rolled oats and steel-cut oats. So, you may take your pick
