Because they don't care who buys or what it is for, as long as they make a big profit. The government isn't overly concerned because they get the taxes from the big profits and industry gets its cut from all the weapons and coffins manufacturing that is created.

In the capitalist world, liberal markets and free trade is essential. This lies in the core of all of the great Western economies of the world. Hence companies can sell their goods freely to any customer, as long as they pay the relevant taxes to the government. The arms industry also wields great economic and political power. It's not so much about poverty but also about intricate politics and in the end, noone can stop the weapons sales because of the two reasons I mentioned: the basic economic rule of the capitalist world, and the power of the industry.

Who says or makes the Brits out to be some saintly nation/?
Oh the Brits do of course.
Hell if Blair and B.P. and other armaments companys by selling weapons to US and mercing out their airforce navy and army to the United states, can make money and English Lords hire mercenary armys to try and overthrow small african nations what makes someon who saells a few guns to make a livign any worse.
Was a cut little film on TV called Piraters and Kings.
Well that is what England has,.
the kings of commerce and politics steal their livlihoods from the people in big ways have big militarys while the pirate has only a small military and steals things on a lot lesser scale they both are brothers in arms in the same causes.
A big brother and a small brother.
They both have whores back home to support who are quite happy with whatever their pimps give them and do not look at where the goodys come from in too hard a manner.
Of course the King gets PO'D when some pirate deprives him of some loot and it just boils down to who is the sneakier and has the ability to get away with the crimes.

For the exact same reason those same arms dealers were selling weapons to the Germans before WW-One and WW-Two.
It's all about money really. But, we all know that the sale of arms leads only to more killing.
Why don't we stop the arms dealers selling arms to whom so-ever they like? Free trade perhaps!

That's the arms trade; it's been going on since modern warfare has been with us; us and the US together with Russia, supply both sides with arms. Donald Rumsfeld's dabblings in the arms trade has seen him shipping nuclear arms parts to China (their allies) and on through to North Korea (their enemies)
And so the World turns...............
