My dad does it all the time, and so do a bunch of other guys I know. If I'm upset about something or depressed, they yell at me?
Like do they honestly think yelling is going to make me feel that much better? Cuz all it ever really does is upset me more

guys don't get "upset" they get mad. So thats all they know. it takes a certain kind of man to understand why women cry. And he's usually homosexual. Its all they know because they just don't understand. Men and women are a completely different species.

Guys don't have to yell when you are upset. Its the only way they know how to deal with it. they are still young and stupid..well we never actually grow out of the stupid thing. LOL
Now for your dad, not sure why, maybe its because your not listening, maybe he doesn't know how to handle it.

Mabey because they just dont know how to deal with it or mabey they just think that its their fault so yelling helps them feel better

It's lack of respect and they don't know how to respond to your emotional bliss. By yelling, they feel its a good thing and they don't know how to control their temper.

Men hate emotions and emotional problems. When they are confronted with them, they start shouting, to cover their embarrassment, their inability to deal with it and then, they are really upset with that person, too: why did she expose them to such an inconvenience? And they care about you all the time.
