I took my fiance with me and he picked his own wedding band out, he is the one who is going to wear it for the rest of his life so he needed to be comfortable with the ring that he wears..

It depends on what your husband would like to wear.
Gold, yellow or white, is usually the type of ring used. The durability needed will decide the K factor; 10K ,14K, 18K, etc. The hgher the number the more gold in the ring, the softer the ring.
And some jobs require a man NOT to wear a wedding ring.
But there are other metals now being used such as titanium
(I don't recommend for safety's sake, VERY indestructible), stainless steel, platinum.....
Sterling silver is porous, which will hold bacteria. That's the reason when ears are pierced, gold posts are used; to help eliminate infection.
This company is out of Austrailia but will give you some info & the kinds of rings available.

generally men's wedding bands are a bit larger and heavier than women's but there are some that are appropriate for both men and women. Silver, gold, platinum, and titanium are some materials that wedding bands are made from. Which metal you choose is strictly a matter of personal taste and affordability. Some are embellished with diamonds or other stones, some aren't. some can be engraved with personal sentiments, the wedding date, or your names.

My husband is very rough on rings. We looked at the titanium, but ended up with a plain white gold band. There was one other that he liked, but our son-in-law has it, so he didn't want to be "twins". It was white gold, and the center of the band, all the way around, looked kind of frosted. I don't know the official term for that type of design, but it was a really nice ring. If your husband-to-be is hard on rings, stick with a plain gold band, white or yellow, depending on what you have. I have white gold, which is why we got him the white gold band.
Congrats on your upcoming nuptials.

Definately get gold. Yea the wedding bands are different from females. I'm gonna buy my fiance a 14k two toned (white and yellow) gold with 1/4 karat diamond from zales. It's not very expensive either.

Avoid stone settings, like the diamond channels. Mine is platinum. If the gloss is not as much a deal, go with titanium. Or, I eyeballed those tungsten bands, they're supposed to be even more durable.

10K yellow gold is really, really durable. The higher the number, the softer the gold, as it is more pure.
