I think that if you really want to go through with this, you should! Your friend just wants to warn you about what the risks are, but she may just be scaring you a little too much! A lot of people i know have gotten thier cartilidge peirced, and none have had any problems. What your friend said IS true, but really, it's not as scary as she's making it sound. I'd reccomend a top-notch piercing place, and it's true that Claire's is not the best place to go.

Don't worry, nothing possibly can go wrong with getting your cartilage pierced. About a year ago, I got my cartilage pierced at Claire's with a gun (didn't know back then how bad piercing guns are) and everything seemed fine until one day, i got this huge bump on the back of the hole. I took out the earring out cause i didn't like the bump. The bump has gotten smaller, but i still have it. Then, 2 weeks ago i went to this piercing/tattoo place near my house and got it re pierced on the other ear with a needle. Everything is going great, no bump and its not infected or anything.
My advice to you is that if you want your cartilage pierced, go for it, because it looks so great and you wont regret it. Don't be scared, because your face won't get paralyzed and your cartilage won't collapse. But i would recommend getting it pierced with a needle, because if you get it done with a gun you will get a bump on the back of it (otherwise there's nothing wrong with a piercing gun). It unlikely that it will get infected either as long as you clean it (usually twice a day with dial soap). Also, it doesn't hurt that bad to get it pierced. Good luck and happy piercing!

My mum got her cartilage pierced in Claire's and it got really badly infected so she took it out. Its ok to get your lobes done at Claire's though. Don't go anywhere that uses the gun to pierce your cartilage, that can shatter it and it is now illegal, so I heard. I got my cartilage done at Jukz, I had no problems so I got another piercing just below it (still cartilage) and I've had no problems with this one either. It is also safer to have it pierced with a gold earring.

Ok, I've never heard of you cartilage collapsing. I have 2 cartilage piercings in my right ear and yes, they have both gotten infected, but no they did not collapse, they just got red and soar, just like lobes do. I got mine pierced at Walmart and they sterilized it and they did it really well. Oh, and it doesn't hurt either, just to reassure you.
I'd say go for it...I don't think that your friend knows what she's talking about..and if she was an expert on ears she'd know that piercing them herself is the most risky way.
Hope I helped!

if i was you i wouldn't worry, just remember if it hurts that normal and you might want to get it done by your doctor if you not sure about other places. Also after you get your cartilidge pieced remember to keep your hair away from ears, use the cleaning fluid your doctor (or who ever) gave to you and make sure to twist your earing so the hole stay proper size.

1. The chances of you cartlidge collapsing is about 1 in 10000.
2. The chance of your face being paralyzed is about 1 in 100000000.
3. You should get it done.
4. And I got my ears pierced at Claire's two times and I watched them and they sterlize it DARN GOOD and make sure it's in the right place. They are also friendly and very coopertive. [If I spelled that right]
5. Your friend probably heard that from somebody who didnt know what they were talking about, or she's jealous.
6. I never heard of anyone have any problems.
7. My aunt has it pierced, she says it hurts more than your ear lobe and its sore longer than your ear lobe but thats just because its harder tissue. Nothing major, just keep it clean and dont play with it. But you should twirl the earring around alittle, they may suggest that.

*GASP* Claires don't steralyze well?!? Ahhhhh!!! My earhole isn't clean!!! Ahhh!!!
Ok. Back to the question. If you really, really, really, really, really want to get it then take the risk. But if you are hesitating and not completly sure, then don't take it. I would be scared too!
My 6th grade teacher ( i am in sixth grade, almost on our spring break!!!!) my friend told me that he gives the best advice!!! and it's so true. but i am not sure that i should tell you. Anyway he is taking care of his newborn baby and it's soooo cute!!

it could get infected, but i know a lot of people who have it done and their fine. You should only get it done if you have gotten over the fear of stuff like that happening.I got mine at claires and it didnt get infected but when she was putting it in it got suck and it hurt bad so you should get it done by a true pro.

If your going to get it done get it done somewhere more processional than Claire's, it may cost more, but do you want to take the risk it may get infected?
