Yes it is illegal to eat dog in England because it isn`t a registered food source. I know it is accepted in some parts of the world but the way they breed and kill them is inhumane and barbaric. I am sure that many people could say that about cows, pigs, sheep and chickens though, so I must question my own eating habits!!! Good question, gets you thinking!!

I've read the previous answers with interest. Legal in this country is anything not illegal! As no legislation exists prohibiting eating dogs it cannot be illegal. Obviously, it's entirely unacceptable here but don't let's confuse that with statute law.

Custom & practice is quite another matter...

I believe so, even in China now. In some areas in the past, dog meat was a delicacy in China. Who knows, maybe some are still doing it in secret.

Yes it decidedly is illegal in the UK and if the RSPCA see this link and think someone is doing it over here, be sure the cops will track back to your computer and the RSPCA will hang you out to dry.

RSPCA = The Royal Society for the Protection against Cruelty to Animals.

And trust me on this one... they've got more clout than child care agencies over here!

So will I!

It's definitely illegal in the U.K. and it carries the death penalty because if anyone comes near my dog with a knife and fork I'll kill them !

I think it is, I don't think the RSPCA would like it, I'm a animal lover.
