I was thinking of changing my speakers and i have my car torn apart right now and someone recommended to change the speaker wires. Is it really going to make a noticeable difference from the stock wire and if so, what kind should i get and what gauge, im not really looking for bass, my sub takes care of that, more for good clear sound with good mids and highs.

the wires would not make any difference....the problem is only if theyre too thin and work as a resistor but as stock wires theyre probably ok.. and if theyre in a very bad state...just change them. they wont cost a lot =)

It really depends on your system. If you're going to be spending tens of thousands of dollars on the system then yes go with the best, but if it's just a few hunda bucks then the stock wires will be good enough. Your system is always only as good as it's weakest (or cheapest) link. Even if you changed your current wire two or four gauges lower (the lower the gauge the thicker the wire, thus better the sound), you probably won't notice the difference. Also it depends on how old the current wire is and the condition it's currently in. Hope it helps.

Stock wire is usually pretty thin and really cheap. Just go to a store that sells audio equipment and pick up some 16 gauge wire, you can run everything off of this. Unless you are running a sub 800 watts or more you should look into 12 gauge or if your sub wires are over 10 ft.

Unless you're connecting your new speakers to an amplifier or the factory wiring is extremely small, upgrading the wire is unlikely to make an audible difference.

I'm no pro at stereo stuff, but if you can upgrade the wire diameter and quality without a major hassle, go for "monster cable"{tm}.

If you're doing less than 20 watts per channel, stock would be fine though.

The stock wire is usually ok to use. I wouldn't change it unless you are running an amp to your speakers.

Yep. You're already in there. Might as well since upgrades are in the future...
