Going by yourself: Times Square, Statue of Liberty, Various museums, take tour, Shopping-Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Saks Fifth, WTC.
Going with others (friends or family): Times Square, South Street Seaport, Statue of Liberty, American Museum of Nat. History, Central Park, World's Largest Macy's (Herald Square), World's largest ToysRUs, Rockefeller Center, Chinatown/Little Italy.
Take mass transit- subway or bus. Try to avoid taxis- are expensive. If ur coming with lots of ppl anc can afford to pay for transportation into city, then use LGA. If u want a cheaper alternative to that n lugging ur baggage around doesn;t bother u, try JFK- further from city, but can get u into city for only $7 (Airtrain+subway). Be sure to stay safe n have fun!
P.S. Get an unlimited Metrocard- will get u everywhere cheaper.

There's lots to do in ManhattAn. Try a google search with the correct spelling of the place and you might have better luck.
