Some that I would suggest are John 14:27; Isaiah 40 and Psalm 23.
I was about your age when I wrote in my diary one Sunday, "Someday I want to read the whole Bible." I didn't make any plans to do that. Maybe I was thinking that I would not understand it until I was an adult. Looking back I wish that I had read it before I -
started dating
graduated from high school
went to college
got married
had children
- but I didn't
I didn't finally read the Bible from cover-to-cover until my life was falling apart at the seams. I was going through divorce and things were really bad at work due to the banking crisis at the time. One Sunday I prayed "God, I just want ..." I didn't even know what I wanted other than for the pain to be gone. I believe the Holy Spirit finished my prayer for me "... to read the Bible from cover-to-cover. Will You arrange the time and the money?" I got laid off 2 days later and received 15 weeks of severance pay in answer to that prayer.
I read The Daily Walk Bible and it was the only place I could find any comfort. It was so good that I couldn't put it down and I finished it in 90 days. Reading the Bible was the BEST thing I've ever done in my life and I keep doing it every year now.

Start with the 23 psalm.... but there are very few verses in The Bible that can stand alone... all of the Psalms are good and many of the Proverbs.... If you want to start reading the bible I recomend you start with the first two chapters of The Book of Luke. I will give you a link to the Bible page of my website... you will find my recomendation for a beginer to start reading The Bible. I do not recomend just trying to read it from front to back... If you come to The Bible honestly you will find the way God wants for you and what He has for you init... but it must be said that The Bible of theTrue Christian Faith is not intended for the non-believer... only those open to the leading of god through The Holy Spirit will find what God has for them there..... here is the link to my Bible Page...

What a great question to ask! May I suggest, first off, that you get a copy of the New Testament called 'The Message' by Eugene H Peterson. It's written in modern, every day English and is absolutely perfect for teenagers (ISBN 1-57683-102-7).
Start with John 3: 16 which explains how big God's love is for us, then check out 1 Corinthians 13 which shows us how love works.
May God guide you to other parts of the Bible and speak to you through them.

You can't read the bible that way, this verse, that verse. YOu lose the meaning of the message that way. It gets taken out of context without what comes before and what comes afterwards. Try reading one chapter at a time. And always remember you have to understand the context it was written in: Who they are speaking to or about, what was the histroical and literary context.

(John 14)...In fact, I recommend reading from here to the end of the Gospel of John....and also check out Colossians - that is one of my favorites!

Lets see, I love reading the Psalms and Proverbs. You can do a little of them with any other readings you are doing.
First Corinthians 13 would be right up a young girls ally. Ruth and Esther too as they deal with young women and their obedience to God. (My wife's favorite too)
the Beattitudes are very meaningful as well.
Psalm 40:11
Do not withhold your mercy from me, O LORD; may your love and your truth always protect me.
Psalm 103:17
But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD's love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children's children-

If you have a Mardel's Bookstore or other Christain store you can find a little box full of Bible scriptures that are just what you are looking for. You can pull one out and take it with you and reflect on it all day.

Salvation for your soul is all about faith -- faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. It's simple, yet life-changing. The entire New Testament is wrapped up in faith about Jesus Christ; I would read it all. Then go back and read the Old Testament -- for Jesus is God, unchanging, the same in the Old Testament as He is in the New. You will begin to see alot more about who God is. You will begin to see how Abraham's belief (faith) in God was reckoned as righteousness, and not what he did or did not do.
And if you want a couple verses, I suggest you put everything in perspective with Deut. 32:39.

Check out the Book of Galations in the bible. This book gives and axcellent easy to understand basis for Christianity.

How about Philippians 4:4, 5,6,7, 8,9,10,11,12,13 & 19?
Zephaniah 3:17 is my favorite about God singing over you. I sing in whatever key I can make up, but if God is singing over me what does it matter what I sound like.
