different times..different situations and different societies lead to differrent perceptions. with times all these things changes. this is is the whole philosophy behind evolution or destruction. so it may happen so that some individual will have faith in a religion and someone else will see evil in it. and the whole trend may get reversed again. so it is a vicious cycle .

Only the Abrahamic religions spread hate like that. All the others (at least that I've come across) mind their own business. If only people understood the term "personal beliefs" the world would be a kinder and more peaceful place.

Actually, you are quite right!
In India, the Devas are gods, and Asuras are demons. But in Zoroastrianism (Iran) the Devas were considered demons, while the Ahuras (same word as Asuras) were Gods.
In Hinduism, Shiva is God, and He carries the trident. But in Christianity, Satan is the arch-demon and he carries the trident.
It's typical for Christians to call my Gods and Goddesses (of Hinduism) "demons" which I do not appreciate at all. But that's how they see it.

you might want to consider that though there are gods and goddesses in history, NONE of them are the ONE true God because there are Fallen Angels and Satan himself who have captured the souls of men in women in history and deceived many of them.
Some men actually seek out satan and ask for wealth and power and they have created false gods and dieties.
Liars are deceived and the deceived Blaspheme God.
because the gospel of jesus christ teaches that there is ONE saviour because the bible records the testimony of some, everything else is truly demonic. Unless of course God himself chooses to ADD to the bible, then what? you have a book of mormon? maybe....
as far as the meaning of devil is concerned. please look it up. Devil actually means or is equal to the term "liar".
I sure would like to know where meerkat found that false definition but he doesnt give anyone the oportunity to email him and ask him, and of course im out of ability to ask questions.

Actually "devil" means "weak". If one nation lost to another, their god was weak and became the next devil At least that's what I have heard.
