Well, I think you cannot go wrong with salt, pepper. Of course I love dry rubs and marinades too. But, if you cornered me I would go with S&P with a little chile powder.
You might as well ask me what my favorite Bible verse is! (which being in R&S would make more sense)
But, chicken is so versital you can rub it with any spice and get something wonderful when cooked.

A mixture of thyme, sage, rosemary, salt and onion powder. My own version of poultry seasoning, nice and savory. Yum.

I use salt & pepper, then rosemary,basil, oregano, it is all up to the recipe. But salt & pepper is a most!
