beyond the obvious dental issues, which I personally think is unlikely with a one year old cat, there is the possibility your cat has gotten hold of something sharp, like a chicken bone and it is caught in his mouth or throat.
Take him to the vet for a checkup as soon as possible. Cats can't last longer than a few days without food before their livers start going bad.

Most likely your cat has dental problems or stomatitis (inflammation of the gums). Probably needs a good teeth cleaning. Or he could have renal failure which can lead to bad breath and sores in the mouth from the build up of toxins in the blood that are normally filtered out by the kidneys. The only way to know is to take a trip to the vet for a thorough physical.

You should take him to your vet and have his mouth looked at. I suspect he has a tooth problem. A chipped tooth/broken/cracked tooth. Lots of tartar or decaying tooth will definitely make his breath smell badly and the pain from his issues will make him not want to eat. Even though he's only one yr old there is always the chance he has damaged a tooth somehow, and some cats just like some people just naturally produce more tartar. Good luck!

He has a bad tooth, that would be the most common cause for the symptoms you gave.
More than likely, there is probably an infected tooth, which is causing the bad breath, and the pain from this is causing the cat to not want to eat.

First guess is an abcessed tooth due to excessive tartar or remains of a bone or sharp object in his gums. Do not attempt to chek yourself becaause being this the case, he'll be in sharp pain and you might harm him or he might become aggressive. Take him to the vet ASAP. Problem can bring many other problems and could end up being fatal due to an infection and the not eating.
Good luck and hope he gets better soon!

Take him to the vet; it sounds like he has some infected teeth or an infection of the mouth. This has to be a painful horrible condition for the poor cat.

Sounds like some of his teeth may be rotting. Take him to the vet ASAP and let them determine the best problem. It is really important to keep your cat's teeth clean. Regular cleanings and treats that promote tartar control are key!

Check out his teeth. We just had to pull a front canine tooth in our male cat. He had horrible breath. I looked at his tooth and it had dark spots on it. It was loose so I pulled it out. Now he is fine and eating good.

BAD TEETH. I'm very serious about this. Animals can have bad teeth too. It's no joke. It's very painful and can eventually kill the cat. Take him to the vets asap.
