I used to hate that myself, feeling lazy, bloated and lethargic when I had my period, you'd see these adverts on TV showing women playing tennis and running and I'd think jeez are they normal, I decided to go swimming during mine and do some light walking too, wouldn't have thought it would help but honestly it does and big time and now I am menopausal I am glad I took up the swimming and light walking to help because at times this is worse than anything I experienced when I was younger.

Walking briskly is the best outdoor exercise when you have your period, in my opinion. Yoga and pilates are excellent as well. All have benefits and they are gentle on your system .

The feeling of being bloated is helped by increasing fibre in your diet for a couple of days at the beginning. Drinking a little lesscoffe and tea will also do wonders for your energy levels at this time.

Check out yoga or pilates - no energy required as it's not cardiovascular exercise - and some of the movements help with the pain and the bloating.

i would say go for a nice walk, not only does it allow you to get some fresh air which will help to lift your mood but you'll also get some exercise which is a good allrounder and if you feel like you can take it up a notch, try power walking, although pilates is relaxing it does involve alot of complicated moves which i can certainly do without at this time of the month

I know this is going to sound strange to some but how about swimming (if you are not a pads girl if you know what I mean...?) warm water, floating and not much effort... Otherwise how about just toning down the exercise and doing some yoga or palates or perhaps a little exercise at home?

I know this feeling, but if you force yourself to exercise, you'll find that you feel a lot better. Try swimming, walking, or going for a slow, relaxing jog.
