I don't mean motion sickness, or airsickness, I mean not catching a cold or the flu or anything. I know you're supposed to wash your hands a lot, but what else?

Take 1000 milligrams of Vitamin C before the flight and every day that you're out of town. Yes, do wash your hands and bring some anti-bacterial wipes with you and wipe the sink and counter top in the lav when you use it. You may want to also wipe the tray table and armrests down in case the person who sat in the seat before you was sick. Bring your own head sets or ear buds. Bring your own food with you, fruits and veggies or sandwiches (things that can go through security without a problem). Stay hydrated.

A lot of these suggestions may seem extreme but it's better to be safe than sorry. Nothing ruins a vacation faster than being sick. Have a great flight.

Actually I read an article somewhere saying airplane air is CLEANER than office air. The airplane brings in air from the outside, and at 30,000 feet the air coming in is sterile. It then circulates through the cabin (not from front to back or anything but just within a small area) and circulates back out. Office air circulates air from the outdoors which is not sterile. Of course people still touch the arm rests & tray tables so those could have lingering germs just like any other public place. Bring some wipes or that antibacterial hand gel (under 3 oz.) but you are no more likely to get sick than a day at the office or mall.

Take a 24 hour dose of "Airborn".

I travel all the time and this has worked for me every time.

I have flown a few times and I have not noticed any possibility of catching anything. The flight attendants are usually very pretty, they smell good and they offer you food and drinks.
