They CAN "act" jokingly mean, yes. To some it's exciting. It depends on the guy's character tho.

Eye contact darlin', eye contact is the easiest way to tell.
More frequent, holding your gaze just a bit longer before looking away, intense & brief contact.
Definitely different than brotherly eye contact.

i don't know about the other guys but when i flirt with some one, i usually touch them around the arm, sometimes play with their hairs, and i will be mean (in the funny way) with her, she will notice that i don't intend to be mean..........
and i wouldn't be shy tho...... XD
