You can obatin a dog pregnancy test for at home use or go to the vet. I would call your vet and ask them what they do. It will check for the horomone called Relaxin Don't use a human one as it measures Progesterone. It is now possible to tell if planned mating was successful, and also to tell if unplanned pregnancy has occurred. Now you can know if your female dog is pregnant or not, within 25 days after mating. The test involves drawing a blood sample from your pet and waiting approximately 20 minutes for test results simplar to getting a Heartworm test.

How to tell if she is preganant:
She will get bigger around 4-5 weeks if she is a small dog or 5-8 weeks along if she is a bigger breed dog. She will get lazier and lay around more. She may get sick and vomit or experience a temperament change. Around 6 weeks they tend to lose their appetite for awhile. They want smaller meals and urinate more due to the growing uterus squishing everything else. They dig and scratch as if making a nest for their pups. Around the last week their nipples fill up with milk. If your female went into heat and didn't get bred she might still show all these signs without being pregnant called a false pregnancy or "pseudocyesisa" which is a hormonal abnormality and which may occur after she has been in heat.

A little info:
When dogs go into heat it lasts about 3 weeks, once or twice a year at as early as 6 months of age. The length of gestation in dogs is normally 61 to 63 days, and afterwards during this time, they can become pregnant while still nursing. It is important to keep a nursing mother away from other adult dogs of the opposite sex. One can spay a mother as soon as the pups are weaned, (4 to 5 weeks for puppies) and because of the risk of pregnancy this should be done. A brother and sister from the same litter can create their own litters by the age of five months. It is not a good idea to allow this to happen.

From what I remember, a dog is fertile after the period. It's not like a human period, try searching the web for "estrous cycle"

dogs dont get "sessions".. they dont menstruate. dogs go via warmth or estrus.. they do bleed, yet its not a 'era".. warmth cycle can final as long as 21-28 days.. not all dogs bleed for the period of their warmth, and a few do not bleed for the finished cycle. oftentimes dogs cycle each 6 months.. some could cycle as much as each 4 months, and a few could cycle each year. in basic terms get your dogs spayed and neutered.. challenge could be solved.

No.She will continue her heat even if she is mated. The heat is 21 days long no matter what happens. This leaves her capable of mated by other dogs & having their pups too.

Regardless your dog will stay in heat for three weeks. More than likely your dog will have puppies.
