I would treat bringing cats to a new home just as if I were bringing them home for the first time from adoption. Place your cats in a single room (bedroom works fine) with their food, beds, toys and litter box.

Keep the door closed for a couple of days so they can get used to their immediate surroundings. Cats need to have a "comfort zone," but be sure to come in frequently to play and love on them. You and their "possessions" are the only things familiar to them at the moment.

After a couple of days, you can crack the door and give them the opportunity to explore their new surroundings at their leisure. It will take them a few weeks to adjust, but they will. Just don't let them outside during this time so they don't run away and try to go back to their old home. If they were originally outdoor cats, you'll need to keep a close eye on them for a while.

Enjoy your new home!

OMG!! I remember moving to our house about 10 years ago with my cat Princess....She meowed non stop for the first couple of days, but the more stuff we moved in that had her scent on it and got things unpacked she calmed down. She would also slink through the house ( that is if she ever came out from under the beds.) I felt so bad for her, but they adjust. I would say within a week your kitties should be fine:)

It will not take too long for them to get used to their new surroundings. A good tip for you is before you let them out for the first couple of times, rub their paws with butter, as they will be able to locate and follow the smell back to your new home. It has worked with our cats every time and we have two toms, that are prone to wander much more than queens. Good luck in your new home.

Hiya, Once your cat's start to get used they will come out. But don't let them out of your new home for a few weeks. Cat's soon adapt to their new environment. By the way we had a great win over Warrington last night didn't we.

Oh bless... Just be patient and gentle with them and they will be fine in the end - it's just new and scary for them and of course smells different. How about getting them some new toys and cat nip? Also, remember you should attempt to keep the cats in for at least one week before letting them out. Let them out when they are hungry and perhaps go out into your garden with them to keep an eye on them. Good luck - they will be fine (my male cat is the biggest wuss - he's scared of his own shadow - it took him three weeks when we moved until he was running up the trees and catching birds!)

Just try to see the situation from the cats' view point - they have been taken from their familiar home to someplace filled with new smells & sounds. They are frightned. Try to give them familiar things - a rug or bed with their smell, for example. Coax them with food, give them lots of tlc, be patient & they will be fine. Don't let them our for at least 4 weeks & then only under supervision. Don't force them - they will adjust in their own time. Good luck in your new home.

They will come out, and they are coming out too eat and drink and use the litter box when you are not looking.

Cats absolutely detest change. It may take them weeks to begin to feel comfortable enough with their new home to really begin acting comfortable and coming out of hiding.

You just have to wait them out, they will be fine.

If you have some of their toys, scratchers and catnip filled items you can place them around the new home, and this will encourage them to become more comfortable.

Congradulations on your new home, your furry family will adjust, just give them lots of time.

they will probably come out when you ignore them.put their bed where they can find it and leave them in peace.when you can pick them up again put some butter on their paws and put them in their bed again, they will clean themselves and feel more settled.but be very careful not to let them escape too soon or they will try to go "home" and could get lost.
