The wright brothers did not effect the industrial revolution because it was over by the time the invention the the airplane came in 1904. By that time you are getting into the pre-WWI era.

The aeroplane didnot contribute to the industrial revolution, rather the industrial revolution contributed for the aircraft.

The Wright brother's didn't really want it as a war machine, but that's what people first did with that. It would be several years after WW-1 that it will become a safe mode of transport, the way the brothers envisaged.

The Wright Brothers introduced the scientific method into industry. Rather than build a plane and then try to fly it and end up dead, they invented a wind tunnel. (It can be seen at the USAF Museum in Dayton, OH). They tested things on a small scale then if it worked, they scaled up. They kept accurate records of flights, weather conditions and problems encountered. PRIOR to the Wright brothers, people would just build something and hoped it worked. THAT is their contribution to the industrial revolution.

The majority of the industrial revolution took place in the 19th century. The Wright brothers flight was more a culmination of technologies developed during that time. The biggest contribution (?) at the time was probably in the area of warfare starting in WW1.

The wright brothers flew their plane in 1903, and the industrial revolution was from the late 1700's to the late 1800's.

Hmmm... sounds like a school question.

I think the immediate benefit was the ability to fly cargo around, not so much people. That, and mail.

One of the things it did was to allow the advancement of technology to the point that school kids could ask others to do their homework, instead of reading the assigned text.
