You don't need lessons, man! Just get a book that shows you how to play chords, to start with. Forget about reading music, it's not generally necessary, but you will want to learn TABs, they're easy. Go to the music store and look at the books of tabs for songs you know, and you'll be on your way. Don't give up.

Since you're a senior in high school, you might be able to talk to one of the music teachers and see if they'll help. Other then that, try looking things up online. Or buy a book from the store, I've seen some that are about 5 or 10 dollars. If you want to be able to read music, buy a book or look online. If you just want to be able to play, I advise just fiddling around with a guitar yourself. Find what sounds good, how to make certain noises, etc. Good luck!

dude if you have a barnes and noble nearby, look in their sale sections, there are always guitar books in there. also - if you look where they have the like.. "gift ideas," you should be able to find a guitar set with a cd, on how to play.
otherwise, just start playing along with tunes. I dont know what style youre into, but you cant go wrong with metal, for sheer fun. I learned to play by playing the rhythm guitar on metallica's "kill em all" album, over and over.. years ago. you can't go wrong with the chugga-chugga-chugga riffs.

Well, if you have no idea on how to play the guitar, then i think there are some beginner books that show you how to finger the notes at the back...
