Does anyone know step by step how to do this?

find the file in My Computer-->right click it-->send to-->compressed (zip) folder

As far as I know you first have to have a program like WinRAR (there are other programs that do this same thing) and you can sometimes get trial versions from places like cnet.com or downloads.com. Once you have installed the program you should be able to go into your "My computer" folder, go to the folder then the file you want zipped and "right-click" on that folder. It will ask if you want to "add to archive", "compress and email". If you just want to compress or zip the file use the "add to archive" option and follow the screen to it's end. The same procedure goes for the "compress and email" option. I've never used the other options so cannot help you there.

you cant exactly convert a word file into a zip file, you can rename it from .doc to .zip but thats just silly.
Rather, you should use software to make a zip file, windows xp can do it. My favorite is WinRar, other favorites are winzip, powerarchiver, etc.. look at the links below if you want a 3rd party zip creator. If you want to use windows xp zip creator, I posted another link below...

open winzip
then click wizard button
then click next in the neww small window
then choose create a new zip file then click next
then give the name of your zip file and its location then click next
then add the files you want to make as zip then click zip now
then click next and then click close
thus you can create a zip file

This is the conventioanl method of making a Zip file

Download Winzip from
http://www.download.com/WinZip/3000-2250_4-10605855.html?tag=lst-0-2
click on "Download now"

then after downloadin then run the setup by double clickin on the sownloaded file.

after u finish installation open the winzip application

click on new button on winzip n give the desired name.

the click on add button to add your word file

u'r zip file is created...

you said ZIP. in order to put it on ZIP file you need a ZIP program like WINZIP.

the right click the file and choose to send it to WINZIP.

Right click on teh file and select send to, then select compressed file.
