I was sore the 1st day, the 2nd day I felt pretty good, just very swollen. Today I woke up still swollen, feeling rather weak and nauseous, and my jaw is just throbbing (I had the top two taken out). I've been very careful with not spitting, no straws, I don't smoke, etc.. but why is the pain worse than yesterday? Is this normal? I'm also only swollen on one side of my face. Any thoughts?

I had an impacted one removed, and the surgeon did not get all the tooth. Fragments continued to 'work' out to the surface for a few weeks. I went back twice and he took care of them, after that I just removed a few myself. They are tiny little slivers, like a splinter. Go back and have the doctor take a look to be sure.

Dont listen to that person talking about so is having a baby...NO lie I had baby and wisdom teeth cut out.....I thought the wisdom teeth was the worst...And that's for real.At least when you have a baby the pain is easy worth it..YOU get a baby out of it.AS soon as the baby out,you are happy. Now when your teeth are out you are swollen and in the worst pain ever.I would call my dentist who handle it, most have emergency number. If not call urgent care......Maybe you need some real good pain med...I know I 2 take them for a few days..And keep a ice pack on your face where you are swollen.Every few hours should help it.

I had mine out yesterday, so I don't know about pain being worse the third day, but I'll let you know how I feel tomorrow, haha.

Also, My oral surgeon told me to only use ice for the swelling during the first few hours after surgery, and afterward to use a warm wet towel or something similar for swelling. I too am only swollen on one side, and i think that's because the harder it was to get one out, the more swollen you get where that one was.

And yes you could also have a dry socket, I'm thinking I'm going to have to tomorrow also, because I'm pretty sure I lost a clot yesterday...I'm really not looking forward to it!

So hang in there, just know you aren't alone--I'm suffering with you!

Call your dentist - maybe the pain medication you may be taking may make you weak.
You could have a dry socket and sadly enough they are painful - and or you could have an infection.
Just call them - and tell them you feel terrible. I am sure the throbbing is just from keeping your mouth open and the pulling. Use some ice packs - (bag of frozen peas)
motrin and just rest. Make sure they tell you the same thing to ease your mind and let you heal.

I had mine out when I was 16, and it was brutal. I bled a lot and had to have gauze in my mouth and to top it off I had an allergic reaction to the antibotics I was on. Try and put some ice wrapped in a towel and place it on the side of your face, to bring down the swelling. Do salt and water rinses to prevent infection and rest.
Your face will bruise after wisdoms come out, but this is normal.
I hope you feel better. Just try and relax :)

My daughter had more pain on the third day then the other two. We did take her back in, they had to change her antibiotics, the first she wasnt responding to. The first question that they asked her in regards to the pain was if she was well hydrated, she was, but not having enough fluid in your system can cause the pain.
Our employee felt worse the third day as well, she went back in and she had dry socket and they had to clean them back out.
So get back into your dentist

By what you describe I think you have alveolitis (an infection in the bone tissue caused by a weak blood clot formation or bad care of this).
I would go to the oral surgeon who took them out so he can treat you (he´ll clean the "hole" left by your teeth and place a substance which numbs the pain and helps end the infection).

It could be one of two things. It could be dry socket. It's not very common when you get the top ones pulled, but it's possible. Despite the no smoking, spitting or straws, you could have lost the clot, which gave you dry socket. Or it could be an infection. Go see your dentist. The pain should be better, not worse. Not completely gone, but not worse than yesterday.

So is having a baby.

Haha!

Just relax. It is normal to bleed a bit.
Tips: No chips, candies, hard foods

Eat: apple sauce, bologna sandwiches, soft foods
Drink: water, milk, orange juice, gatorade, powerade

Week or two, will be better.
2 or 3 months, will be fine.
