Hello Linda

Labs are the best dogs in the world but ohhhh can they be difficult.

Firstly I would really try and get yourself on a training course, even if it means that you would need to travel to another town. They are invaluable!

Going through your questions here are a few suggestions that you can try.

1. Pulling on the lead is not ACCEPTABLE at all and you need to teach her this. One way is to turn around everytime she pulls and walk in the opposite direction. Even if this means that you look demented LOL as you must keep turning and walking every single time on every single walk. She was soon learn that when she pulls she will literallly get nowhere.

You can also try the standing still method, if you have got all day lol. Everytime she pulls stop walking. Do not continue to go on until she has sat down. When she does, treat her.

You can also hold a treat in your hand so that she can see it. As you are walking get her interested in the treat and make sure she can see it, At the begining treat her often for not pulling, with lots of praise and then increase the distance for not pulling etc etc.

The snarling indoors is definately a tertority thing. Was she well socialsed as a puppy? Is she snarling at you or guests? If guests, get the guest to put down some treats so she does't see them as a threat. If she is snarling at you then you must deal with this straight away. You are the pack leader not her. If she snarls at you do not be scared , be strong grab her collar and take her to her bed. If you have a pen take her there. Say in a loud voice NO and then ignore her for 8 minutes. (min per month). You must do this every time and be consistent.

I won't go on! As I could write essay now !

I hope that helps a bit! Good Luck.

PS the jumping up thing!

On a walk if you see someone coming, just before they get to you treat your dog. While she eating them hold her collar and say DOWN when the person passes. If she does stay down treat her. They are much more interested in yummy treats so this should work quite quickly. Again you must be consistent and get the treats to her before the person does!

Cheers
Kate

Go here for the best dog training couse http://dog-training-course.checkhere.info

Since it is obvious that you do not have a clue about obedience training, your services should be for free. You cannot train even an adult dog for 8 hours a day. About the most that can be done at any one time is 10 - 20 minutes and that is with an adult dog and not a puppy. The attention span on this baby is extremely short and training session should be no more than 10 minutes and twice a day. Additionally, there isn't going to be much learned if you will only be training for 5 days. Obedience training is cumulative and is done over a much longer period of at least several weeks to several months.
What you can charge is determined by your experience, reputation, and accomplishments and in a case like this, should also include guaranteed expectations. Just working with dogs over several years, is not the experience that is necessary to be a dog trainer. There are too many people who are putting that title to their name and fleecing the public. Don't be one of them.

I am in the same situation you have to get a misty spray at places like homebase (u.k.) that you would usually use when watering plants and when she jumps up a quick spray and look away now I know that at the moment it must sound daft but your dog is probably nervous but you have to show her that you are the dominent dog the pack leader and what you say goes you must do this as she will get a lot bigger Take her to training classes and just let her see that you or any one else is or are not a threat get her use to other dogs and being a dog owner should be enjoyable for you and it will be but you must be persistant
good luck!!!!!!!

Hey! It's the same as my dog. She always jumps up and down and then in a few minutes she stops. It's really annoying...

Anyway,, Before you go out, put her on lead. If she jumps and bites the lead, get a treat out to give her attention. Then tell her to sit and walk around the house with the treat in your hand. when she is sensible, giver her the treat. after doing this for a several time, go to your front door. Don't open the door then. First tell her to sit, give her a treat for doing it and go out.

I did this myself and it did work. She was sensible.. today.

Goodluck! i hope it works for your dog. It's ok because my dog is 8 months. It's not late for her.

whenever she snarls for no apparent reason i would try to squirt her with some water and say "Bad dog". my dog barked at a wall everyday for a week until i got sick of it and i sprayed him with some water and said bad dog and it worked. keep doing that for about a month and if it dont work i dont know what to tell ya.

As far as the snarling goes im not to sure on how to deal with that, but for the jumping up, my dog use to do it ,all I did was ,when he jumped up on me i kneed him in the chest, and did it harder all the time , he stoped after a while, some people might say that it is cruel, but it worked...

the only way really is tough love .. when she does it tell her no . and tap her on the nose (not hard enough to really hurt her) .. when you walk her .. keep her close to you and dont let her pull you about .. she needs to learn that you are the boss - not her . hope this helps : )

when ever she does something bad, a gentle, yet sten "NO' will let her know that you dont like her doing something, but never say " (name),NO", her name should always mean something good. "NO", is the universal correction, just watch the dog whisperer
