Ok here's how it goes... Pasta is the cover all name for the products like macaroni and noodles. Macaronies are made with a very hard wheat, salt and water, and can be so many shapes. Elbow macaroni is the most common type used in the united states. Noodles are made with hard wheat, usually some whole egg, salt and water. Noodles are usually thin and ribbon strips, cut to whatever size you want.
Now if you have German ancestors you might have eaten spaetls or as my grandma called them "spotsies". They are a wet noodle dough (too much water to roll out.. maybe thick batter is a better description). The batter is pushed through the holes in a perforated spoon, into a gently boiling broth.
Wonton is a 'noodle' wrapper for any of a zillion fillings, which are then dropped into boiling broth. Its served with the meat and vegetables in the broth. Rotini is a filled noodle made to form a circle and cooked in broth, then topped with a sauce or cheese and seasoned sauce or peppers.
Pirogi is a noodle dough filled with potato mix, or cabbage mix, or any combination of meat and vegetables, dropped into boiling salted water, drained and either pan sauteed with butter or painted with butter and baked in the oven til slightly golden.
Does this help?

Pasta is basically italian noodles, made from hard wheat, and possibly egg.

Macaroni is Italian pasta that has been made with an extruder (like a playdoh fun factory!), as opposed to cutting the noodles.

Noodles in general are made differently in different parts of the world....china, germany, japan, thailand....They are long and are made with different ingredients.
