They are medical nightmares... although they keep vets in business pretty well, so I like them..... For some reason they tend to inherit the swallowing and breathing difficulties of pugs AND the skin problems and hypothyroidism of beagles. They are cute, but their personalities as a puppy are completely unpredictable. And they are extremelly expensive...... for a mutt. They are just mutts w a fancy name, sorry to all the puggle fans. You can get a mixed breed puppy for much cheaper at a shelter and will be saving a life.
Or you can get a puggle and help me pay my mortgage :-)

Beagles are fun active pets, but tend to bark a LOT and require a lot of exercise. they are also escape artists, and very hard to train. They will bolt and chase any small animal that moves..they sniff the ground constantly, searching for scent. They are good sports, and ready for any activity.
Pugs are house pets, having been bred for 1,000's of years as companion dogs. they show no interest in hunting, or sniffing for game trails. they only want to be with and/or play with their family. they are not happy if their master is out of sight. They are quiet, and don't need a lot of exercise, but just daily walks and play time..They also HAVE to be kept cool, as they get heat stroke so easily.
Blending these two TOTALLY different types of dogs is about the worse idea that anyone has come up with! The new owner has no way of knowing which traits they will be getting..so can't know that they are getting the right breed for their family..
They are NOT apt to be just a happy medium 'blending' but are far more likely to behave as one breed or the other..
So, do you want the hunting hound? that requires a dedication to hours of exercise and dig proof fencing? Or do you want the little couch potato that only wants to cuddle, and play fetch in the living room..
Whichever of these traits you are looking for in a dog, you are just as likely to NOT get the desired traits in a puggle..about a 50% chance.
That is why there are so many in the shelters..
Here are many adorable! Pugs and pug mixes. the advantage of getting one of these, is that most of them are old enough so that you will know what you are getting> http://search.petfinder.com/search/search.cgi?action=1&pet.Animal=Dog&pet.Breed=pug&pet.Age=&pet.Size=&pet.Sex=&location=95687&preview=1&scope=0&x=8&y=11

Puggles (Beagle/Pug mix) are noted for having health issues..structural, breathing, eye, heart, thyroid, skin etc.
There is no way of knowing what you wil lend up with either. Some have traits of one breed some the other some of both. Some are incessent barkers and very stubborn to train etc
