I like the link I posted below a lot. It helped me find the right breed for me. I was already interested in a particualr breed and I checked the "already interested in a breed" section, but I took the test just to make sure. Good Luck! :)

Well getting another Golden retriever would help with grieving but I'd have to say if you want a low fuss lap dog a papillon would be for you, but if you want a hyper go on a walk but settle at night to cuddle dog I'd have to say you should get a jack russell terrier meduim size dog.

I have 3 dachshunds, a boxer and 2 beagles. I have found by far that the sweetest most loyal dog is the boxer. She takes very little maintance except a nice play in the yard once in a while. She is loyal, loving and smart.

I have owned tons of breeds and although I loved each dog I never fell inl ove with a breed until I got Labrador Retrievers. They are extremely intelligent, easy to train, tons of fun because of their versatility, highly devoted and loving. I absolutely adore them and would never be without one. I do dog rescue and take in all dogs but I will always have my Labs. Go to your local shelter and see the different dogs. They all have their own personalities and needs. I just love Labs because of the happy go lucky personalities and they fit my lifestyle.
