My flatmate has invited a local tramp to sleep in my room. I discovered this last night as I returned home from the pub - he was asleep in my bed.
After an uncomfortbale night on the couch, and finding that all my food had been eaten, I confronted my flatmate. He said that he 'thought it would be funny', but is now regretting it himself.
The tramp is currently having a bath. How do I ask him to leave without him hurting me? He has stary eyes.

Get a load of your mates round and tell him in no uncertain terms to leave now. grab all of his stuff while he is in the bath or something and chuck it outside. Hide any knives that are on display in the kitchen, just in case.

Alternatively, be really welcoming to him, get him absolutely plastered on a cocktail of alcohol. Spike some of his drinks with sleeping pills to ensure that he doesn't get out of hand. Once he passes out, and he will, pick him up and dump him somewhere outside, if you drive then drive him about 20 miles away, he won't be back!

you have to be clear and stand your ground. tell him that he has to leave now, don't get aggressive keep calm but stick to your guns. do not get into a discussion about why he is there because he will probably start giving you a sob story. if he refuses to leave tell your pal to sort it out within 1 hour or you will call police. if still no progress make sure you do call police otherwise things could turn nasty, they will make him leave and tell your friend to stop pratting around. good luck, it is funny though.

I think it's a good social thing your friend did. This may be such a good chance to get someone back on the 'straight and narrow'

Only one thing while he's in the bath whip the sheets off and give them a good soak :-) and spay a bit of insecticide around the room.

Well, you know you have to do it. Otherwise this person will continue to take advantage of you. Before you give him a nice talk saying that he can't stay any longer, lock up or hide your valuables! And watch him pack whatever belongings he has, because some of yours may end up with him!

Yes I'm jaded, I had roommates who ripped me off when I kicked them out.

Kindly inform him that he has worn out his welcome and that if he continues to stay that he will start being charged for the space that he is occupying, utilities that are being used, food consumed, etc., and if he cannot pay then he cannot stay. If doing this kindly does not relieve the situation, check with your local authorities as to what you would have to do to have him removed from your domain.

Neil said it nicely. If not up to that, you could always phone the police. At least it works with people who suddenly begin sleeping in other's back gardens and sheds.
