Hi. I'm not a doctor, but it sounds like it could be cryptic tonsils. Google it and see if it sounds about right.

I'll see what I can find on it and post it, one second....

here is what I found:

An answer from another place:

You probably have a condition called cryptic tonsils. What that means is, your tonsils have deep groves and pits in them that debris get stuck in. It forms into like a soft, usually foul smelling, white plaque ball. This debris will dislodge and come out sometimes when you cough. If you have alot of trouble because of this condition, such as alot of sore throats or throat infections, they'll sometimes take your tonsils out. If it doesn't bother you, then just leave it alone. Eventually, as you get older, it starts to go away. You don't need your tonsils as much and they start to shrink.

from a site about this:

The tonsils contain many pits and pockets...called crypts. These, in some patients tend to become impacted with white foul-smelling (especially to the owner) debris that is composed of bacteria and dead cells. It may cause a low grade intermittent sore throat. Antibiotics are only transiently helpful. Some patients will use various mechanical picks and swabs to attempt removal. The only consistent cure is a tonsillectomy...althought the problem often is minor enough that no therapy is necessary.

I had a friend who was coughing up small chunks like you discribe, it was dead alveoli, a very important part of ones lungs, the basic component. He eventually nearly died from his condition, but made a full recovery. Turns out, for him it was a complication of Gonorrhea. They cured him easily once they diagnosed him. See a doctor!

Phelgm. Its nothing too serious. Consult a GP and get some medication for cough would help. Take care and do drink plenty of water and rest well.

It could be a respiratory infection or another respiratory illness. You really need to see a doctor, find out what it is, and get it taken care of before it gets worse or in case it's something serious.

That is from the lungs. It comes from the "flower" like pockets in your lungs.
Seek medical attention!! This may be nothing or it may be serious.
Good Luck!
