Are you being serious, lol, ha ha me and my girlfriend have just pissed ourselves laughing at this question is it not obvious, let me explain it's dirty and muddy outside and we don't want that mud to get from OUTside to INside the house. Although I did once know somebody who should have wiped their feet when they left their house, ergh it was minging.

So that you do not bring in dirt ,mud or who knows what in on a carpet that has just been cleaned or a floor that has just been mopped. Also if your shoes are wet they will make a mark on the rug.In some homes they make you take off your shoes or boots.

In my own home to prevent tracking excess dirt into the house. In other people's homes, as a matter of extending that same courtesy that I appreciate having extended in my home.

what a ridiculous question to ask!! Simply because your mum doesnt want her floorboards or carpet to get dirty! Its is kind of manners aswell, your not going to go to someone house and walk straight to they living room and not have a clue in the world what you are doing to they floor! lool
